In the first part of the programme, you will hear a transcription of the Moravian Love Songs inspired by Janáček. Another theme of the repertoire is formed by Moravian folk ballads bearing a strong message in their contents and music. All that will be performed by Zuzana Lapčíková, Josef Fečo, Petr Růžička and Kamil Slezák, an unusual instrumental interconnection of violin, dulcimer, double-bass and percussions offering interesting colourful musical combinations. These instrumentalists count among the European elite and their programme is interwoven with inspiration by Moravian sounds.

The second part of the programme will start with pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who is one of the leading representatives of musical classicism. His most popular work includes the serenade for strings “Little Night Music” which was intended particularly for social entertainment at its time. One of his most played string quartets is the quartet in C major, which he dedicated, along with several others, to his friend and teacher Joseph Hayden. Thanks to his daring harmonies at the beginning of the first movement, musicians have named it “Dissonant”.
The best known Czech composer in the world is doubtlessly Antonín Dvořák. His many string quartets include 12 love songs written on Czech national lyrics and arranged for a quartet. The collection Cypresses is unique in the quartet literature. Each of the songs has a poetic title, the last two called “A light slumber dominates the landscape” and “You ask why my songs” have been included in the programme.
A new artistic style called impressionism appeared at the end of the 19th century. It was connected mainly with French painting. But musical impressionism also had its great personalities such as Maurice Ravel. His string quartet in F major has extraordinary colourfulness and special effects used mainly in the 2nd movement.
A very promising personality of Czech music was Jaroslav Ježek who died very young after a serious illness. His songs written mainly for the performances of Voskovec and Werich are still known today. One of his most famous pieces is the Bugatti step inspired by jazz, and arranged by Martin Petrík for a string quartet.

W.A.Mozart Little Night Music  -1st movement
W.A.Mozart String quartet in C major KV 465  - 3rd movement Menuet
A.Dvořák Cypresses no. 11 and 12
M. Ravel String quartet in F major - 2nd movement
J. Ježek Bugatti step

During this second part the dinner will be served.

The third part of the programme will present the dulcimer band of Josef Fečo, which will play traditional music of the Romany ethnic group, of Hungary and Slovakia, and European repertoire (musical melodies, operettas, pieces of classical authors).
